Read the Story of the custodian of the land Anna The Spiritual Midwitch & Founder of Sacred Birth International
The Midwitch Cottage was born from a longing to offer a gathering place, to be the Village Midwife for my community.
To offer a living village for mothers and aunties, sisters and elders and families gathering to together to celebrate the seasons, sit around the fire in winter and in circle in the summer.
A place of feminine nourishment, beauty and sisterhood.
For years I searched for the land that was calling me.
And then one day I stepped onto this piece of land with a red cottage resting beside open fields and forest and the land was singing to me.
A piece of land with trees, rocks, moss, and its own small hill rising gently from the earth and with grazing cows as neighbours.
The moment I arrived, I knew. This was the land I was ment to care for and be the custodian of.
Where I would put roots down and create a sanctuary for more than just me.
Since then, The Midwitch Cottage has slowly grown into that vision.
A place where women gather in circles.
Where fires are lit in winter and songs are carried through the summer air.
Where we celebrate the turning of the seasons and the sacredness of life itself.
A place where women remember that they were never meant to do life alone.
Where elders are invited to share their wisdom.
Where barefoot children are running through the grass and babies in arms are welcome to our family friendly gatherings.
Where mothers don't have to mother alone.
A place where the village spirit is being woven back together again.
And if you feel the pull to come here, chances are the village is calling you too.
